breaking her heart
while mine is breaking too

Auntie May May will look different and be tired because she’s sick. She’s taking medicine to make her better.
Yes, she’s bald now. Her medicine made her hair fall out! But it’s making her better.
When we see auntie May May now, we can only do very gentle hugs. Her sickness is making her bones hurt and they’re very fragile. But she is so excited to see you.
Auntie May May is so excited for your birthday party! She loves kpop demon hunters too. But she will need to sit a lot because she’s very tired.
We’re getting two new cats at our house! It’s Bop and Bianca, Auntie May May’s cats. She’s not feeling good enough to take care of them anymore so she asked us to take care of them and move them in here with us. Yes, it’s forever. No, she’s not getting better.
We’re going to see auntie May May this weekend. She is so excited to go to the park with us. She uses a wheelchair now so she can’t run with you but she is so excited to see you. Daddy will push the wheelchair. She loves you so much.
It’s time to go. No, we probably can’t come back to visit next weekend, but I hope we can see her soon. Do you want to give her a kiss and tell her you love her? I know. You love her so much, forever and forever.
Mommy is going to see auntie May May today. Will you make a picture I can bring her? No, I’m so sorry, baby. You can’t come today. I’ll FaceTime you from her apartment so you can say hi and you can tell each other how much you love and miss each other. They moved a special bed in there now, and someone is staying with her all the time to make sure she’s feeling comfortable.
Baby, can I talk to you about Auntie May May? You know how her body has been sick? The doctors tried so hard to make her better. She tried so hard. But the medicine didn’t work. Her body couldn’t fight anymore. Auntie May May died, baby. I’m so sorry. She loved you so much.
No, baby. She’s not coming back. When people die, it’s forever. When someone dies, they don’t come back. But the love stays forever. She loved you your whole life, and she knew you loved her too. And we can keep talking about her even while we miss her. We can do both.
I know, babydoll. I miss her too. So much.
